about

from the album, "SLIDE" - Solo Instrumentals for Acoustic Lap Slide

SCRUFF MUFFIN
(DADFAD Tuning)
Our sweet mutt of a rescue dog is extremely cute with hair sticking out every which way. He's the best studio dog ever and stayed by my side throughout this project.

"I love the sound of the hollow neck acoustic lap slide guitar, known generically as a Weissenborn. Its warm tone and long sustain make it especially appealing to me as an acoustic guitarist and a lover of fretless stringed instruments. I had been wanting to learn how to play one of these for years but the technique requires a different approach from any other stringed instrument I had played. Sliding a steel bar across the strings to make notes and chords that sound in tune - while simultaneously making sure that any unwanted notes or ringing strings are dampened with the right hand - is not easy and it takes time to learn. This new collection of original tunes is the culmination of a nearly two-year journey of discovery with this wonderful instrument. I hope you enjoy it."
